Wedding photography is one of the most demanding photographic
genres there is. No second chances, unpredictable conditions,
emotions running high — and yet it is one of the areas where
Cédric Puisney truly excels. He opens the door to a typical day
on the job.
Preparation, the key to success
It all starts well before the big day. Cédric systematically meets
the couple in advance to understand their vision, their expectations
and the moments that matter most to them. He also visits the venue
to scout angles, light at different times of day and any potential
technical constraints.
The morning of the ceremony
Cédric always arrives early — at least an hour before the first
guests. He starts by photographing the details: the rings resting
on the invitation, the dress hanging near a window, the shoes
neatly lined up. These detail shots are often the ones the couple
cherish most.
Capturing genuine emotion
Cédric’s secret? Making himself invisible. He works discreetly,
never interrupting the flow of the day. The exchanged glances,
the held-back tears, the spontaneous bursts of laughter — it is
in these stolen moments that the most beautiful images are found.
The aftermath — the work behind the scenes
Once the celebration is over, the work continues. Selecting and
retouching the photos from a wedding represents on average 20 to
30 hours of post-production work. Cédric typically delivers an
online gallery of 400 to 600 carefully selected and retouched
photos within four weeks of the wedding.
Photographing a wedding is much more than pressing a button.
It is telling a love story in images, freezing moments that will
